Reddit

Connect an explicitly approved Reddit app to search public posts with read-only OAuth.

On this page

Reddit requires explicit API approval for your app and use. Creating an app or having a Reddit account is not enough. Follow Reddit’s Responsible Builder Policy and obtain the access appropriate to your use before connecting.

Configure the approved app

  1. Obtain Reddit’s approval for the intended use.
  2. Create or configure the Reddit OAuth app covered by that approval.
  3. In Jak, select the product and open Tools → Providers → Reddit → Connect Reddit app.
  4. Copy the exact callback shown into the Reddit app’s redirect settings. Its path ends in /api/v1/oauth/reddit/callback.
  5. Copy the app’s Client ID. For a Web app, also copy its Client Secret.

Connect Reddit

Enter Reddit app Client ID and the secret when required. Confirm Reddit has explicitly approved API access for this app and use only if that is true. Choose Continue to Reddit and authorize the intended account.

Jak requests identity and read access. It does not post, vote, or search comments through this connector.

Search public posts

After connecting, the Reddit card in Tools shows a search form. Enter Keywords, optionally a Subreddit, and choose Sort and Time. Choose Search Reddit to see matching posts and source links.

You can also ask Reese:

Search public posts in r/SaaS from the last month for discussions of onboarding analytics. Summarize recurring questions with links to the original posts. Keep conclusions grounded in the posts returned.

Results are fetched on demand. A live, approved Reddit app is needed to verify the connection against Reddit.

If something goes wrong

Confirm that the approval covers this app and purpose, the callback matches exactly, and the secret is supplied for a Web app. Reconnect expired authorization. A successful authorization does not expand the use Reddit has approved.
