Your first task

Go from an empty workspace to a finished draft you can review.

On this page

Start with a small, concrete request: a product announcement, a landing-page critique, or a short research brief. You can connect external tools later unless the request needs private account data.

1. Connect a model

Open Models → Add model. Select your provider, enter its exact Model ID and API key, and leave Use as installation default selected. Choose Save model, then use Test capabilities on its card.

Check both Text generation and Tool calling. Text generation is needed to do the work; tool calling is needed to read connected accounts and use public web research. See Models if a test fails.

2. Add your product

Open Products → New product, enter a name, and choose Create product. Fill out the Product brief, or enter your public website under Import a website and choose Fetch preview.

Review the proposed fields before choosing Save brief. Include who the product serves, what it offers, and a few examples of your preferred voice. See Products and briefs.

3. Ask Jak for work

Choose Jak in the agent sidebar. Check that the top-bar Product is the one you just created. Send a request with a specific deliverable, for example:

Draft a launch email for our new reporting dashboard. Write for existing customers. Focus on the time they save preparing their weekly report. Include three subject lines, a 200-word email, and one call to action to try the dashboard. Use the product brief for tone.

An actionable request creates a task. Jak plans the work and chooses the agents needed. If you start with a discussion instead, use Make task on the relevant response when you are ready to commission a deliverable.

You can also use Tasks → New task to specify a title, brief, lead agent, and contributors directly.

4. Follow progress

Open the task link in chat or find the card under Tasks. It moves from Queued to In progress to Ready for review.

The Team & research tab shows each agent’s contribution and any saved research. When the result is ready, the lead posts it in that agent’s product chat. A red badge in the sidebar shows unread results.

5. Review and finish

Read the draft and check its claims, links, and fit with your product. Choose Request changes and give specific feedback if it needs another pass:

Keep the subject lines. Shorten the opening, replace the revenue claim with time saved, and make the call to action “Try the dashboard.”

Choose Accept work when it is ready. The task becomes Done. Copy the result or use an available, separate export action such as Save to Notion or create a Kit draft.
